About the Exhibition

Linda Sabbage was born in East Anglia, UK. She attended Wellington East Girls College and was awarded a scholarship to Elam School of Fine Arts. She later attended the University of Auckland for a B of Education.

From the 1980s to the present day, Linda has works in private and public collections across New Zealand, Australia, United Kingdom and Spain.

This collection of work is an exploration of images, found and liberated objects, natural materials, emotional and intellectual experiences gathered whilst living in Europe but with a surprisingly strong aesthetic relationship to living in New Zealand.

“I love paper…the material is flexible, alternative, and lends itself so easily to all the art making processes; drawing, collage, painting, design and construction.

I have played with these processes and this exhibition is representative of this play. Enjoy!
Throughout the years I have been influenced by many artists and I acknowledge their influence in my work; Leonardo Da Vinci, Picasso, Lucian Freud, Robert Ellis, Colin Mc Cahon, Christine Hellyar, Terence
Handscombe…. and many more.”
