"Art is a never-ending learning experience that keeps offering new and exciting challenges as I grow."
I have loved art since childhood and it continues to be my passion. I am a thinker, motivated to paint meaningful and personal paintings, often using symbolism. I am drawn to and inspired by artists who tell stories through their art. My favourite medium is oil on canvas and my subject matter is mainly figurative and portraiture. I hope to show more than a likeness of the person in any portrait, but reveal something of the sitter’s character or his or her story.
I gained a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art from the University of Natal in 1995. I have taught art at secondary schools for a number of years. I have exhibited around the country and been a finalist in the Adam Portrait Award twice, the Molly Morpeth Award and I have recently been selected for the Parkin Drawing Prize.
