About this workshop:
Previous experience with hand building and wheel work required. This intensive four day summer workshop with renowned Northland ceramicist Julie Cromwell will explore:
– how to attach and work on bats
– how too pull and attach handles
– how to make lidded vessels
– making plates, large bowls
– possible making it onto the teapot stage.
Thursday 4th January: 10am – 3pm (includes breaks & lunch)
Friday 5th January: 10am – 3pm (includes breaks & lunch)
Saturday 6th January: 10am – 3pm (includes breaks & lunch)
Sunday 7th January: 10am – 3pm (includes breaks & lunch)
Course cost per student (18 yrs+):
$260 (*excludes materials, e.g. clay, firings, glazes)
Quarry Arts Centre, 21 Selwyn Avenue, Whangarei
We recommend parking at the top end of the Arts Centre towards the waterfall.
You will need relevant tools, equipment and clay.
Clay and other equipment can be purchased from the Quarry shop Wed 3rd, Thu 4th, Fri 5th and Sat 6th Sat 9.30am – 4.30pm (not Sunday).
Kiln firing is “pay as you go”. Firing can be arranged through the Quarry shop. All work left for drying must be accompanied with the fully completed bisque slip. Work will be submitted for kiln firing when dry and paid.

Important to note
To the extent possible, it is recommended to attend the full four days. If you are unable to commit to the full schedule, let us know so that Julie can plan accordingly.
Workshops are held at the Quarry Arts Centre operated by the Northland Craft Trust, a registered non-profit charitable trust.
If a class is cancelled a full refund will be given. In all other situations refunds are at our discretion and an administration fee may be deducted. We appreciate that circumstances change, and unforeseen events happen. We will do our best to help.
