About the class
Indigo dye is an organic compound with a distinctive blue colour. Historically, indigo was a natural dye extracted from the leaves of some plants. This workshop is a unique opportunity to work with locally grown and cultivated indigo dye. This workshop will take you through the process of working specifically with indigo dye. This is not a workshop focussed on general fabric dye techniques.
Workshop attendees must bring the fabric/garment to be applied with dye. High-quality silk is the best option to reduce the risk of an unsuccessful dye process. Cotton, linen and wool may be suitable but the results cannot be guaranteed. Definitely no synthetic fabric (e.g. nylon).
Workshop attendees will also need:
– water & snacks
– suitable footwear
– clothes that are ok for dye that may stain
