Joan Emery – Painter and Printmaker
Joan Emery has worked as a professional artist for many years and explores a range of mediums, genres and subject matter in both painting and printmaking.
She has exhibited, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Her work is held in many countries including Australia, NZ, UK, Canada, USA, Japan and Germany.
Her paintings include large abstract acrylic works, chiaroscuro still life oil paintings, oil paintings of roses, and watercolour landscapes.
Her prints include photopolymer etchings, collagraphs, monotypes, monoprints, relief prints and screen prints.
Influences on her art include her work experiences (Registered Psychologist, University lecturer, private practice), her life experiences (a Welsh immigrant to New Zealand – brought up in a small village Cwmfelinfach), the New Zealand landscape and seascape and much more.
Her studio – The Blue Door Studio – at The Quarry Arts Centre – operates both as a functioning workspace and as a gallery. She is usually working in her studio and visitors are very welcome to drop in, or simply contact her to make an appointment to visit. Work can be bought directly from her and from the Quarry Arts Centre Gallery.
