Opening Friday 19 April, 5pm – Duration: 19 April – 18 May
Step into the surreal world of “Cataclysmic,” where Maxine Hartnell’s obsession with all things feline takes centre stage.
This captivating exhibition invites you to explore a universe where colourful cats can defy gravity, embrace meditation, seamlessly merge with other creatures, and embark on journeys astride alien creatures.
“Cataclysmic” is a glimpse into an imaginary realm where cats are not just pets but revered beings with incredible powers. If you’re a cat lover or someone who appreciates art and a sense of the absurd, then “Cataclysmic” is an exhibition not to miss.
Maxine Hartnell draws inspiration from the realm of pop surrealism and symbolism. Her artworks transport viewers to a strange and whimsical world where unusual fairytale narratives come to life. Maxine enjoys experimenting with a variety of mixed media materials, including acrylics, watercolours, coloured pencils, and collage. She has a passion for nurturing young minds and doubles as an art teacher, igniting creativity, and imagination in children. She is a Children’s Art core teacher at the Quarry Arts Centre and through “Just Imagine” Art Classes for Kids.
