Description
Amethyst is an opaque, dark purple glaze that has a consistent, reliable result that is great for classrooms. Due to the purple pigment Amethyst might lose some of the rich purple colour when fired at a higher temperature.
Several artists have experimented with this glaze in wood, soda, and salt at temperatures up to cone 12, which yielded great results!
Make sure you always test when exploring alternative firings for any of AMACO’s glazes.
Directions: Shake and stir well before using. Thin with water if needed to improve brushability, add AMACO Gum Solution. Apply 3 brush coats on greenware or bisque. Fire to witness Cone 5. This glaze may also be applied by sponging, dipping or pouring.
