MANAWA MATARIKI COMMUNITY WOODFIRING 2025

Description

At the heart of the Quarry lies Manawa, our iconic wood-firing kiln, where the ceramic community comes together under the Matariki stars for this annual wood-firing. The event spans 3 weeks from delivery to unloading and is open to all clay artists at any level by registration.

REGISTRATION DETAILS:

Registration Fee: $60.00

• Includes 1 shelf (D 35cm x W 45cm x H 25cm), access to QAC house glazes, and ensures your inclusion on the firing roster.

• This fee helps cover kiln hire, firewood, room hire, glazes, cones, wadding, shelf wash, and kiln maintenance.

• You will also be invited to participate in the Manawa Tea Bowl Fundraiser Exhibition.

If you have large work or more than one shelf’s worth, we can likely accommodate it. Please email admin@quarryarts.org for a discussion as soon as possible.

If you have more than one shelf’s worth of work, bring them to the delivery. We will assess space availability during loading. If there is extra space, the cost will be $30 for each additional half shelf which will be invoiced after loading.

FIRING INFORMATION:

● Cone 9 – 10 Stoneware Firing (1280°C – 1300°C).

● We recommend all work to be bisque-fired

● All works must be made from stoneware clays

IMPORTANT DATES:

● Registration Deadline: TUES 10th JUNE | 4pm

○ The registration fee must be paid by this date to secure your spot.

● Delivery, Glazing & Firing Roster: MON 9th & TUE 10th JUNE | 1pm – 7pm Scallop Room

○ Deliver and glaze your ceramics in the Scallop Room

○ A range of QAC house glazes will be available.

○ Put your name down on the firing rosters you want to be involved with.

○ Works won’t accepted after 7pm on Tuesday 10th

○ If you cannot attend these delivery dates, please contact us to arrange a suitable time.

● Loading of Manawa: WED 11th – WED 18th JUNE

● Firing of Manawa: SAT 21st – SUN 22nd JUNE | 36-hour firing

● Unloading of Manawa: SAT 28th JUNE | 12pm

● Registration:

● Fill out the Delivery Form: You will be sent the Manawa Matariki Community Woodfiring 25 delivery form upon registration. This form must be filled out accurately on delivery.
