Creative activities can promote connections and assist in deepening relationships. Numerous studies highlight the positive benefits for general well being deriving from creative activities. They are even good for business!
The Quarry Arts Centre offers a range of creative experiences for small and large groups of all types. These can be engaging social sessions or content targeted towards specific outcomes. By holding your event with the Quarry Arts Centre you are supporting a registered charitable trust which in turn supports creative kids and adults across Northland.
Workshops can be arranged across a range of creative mediums:
- ceramics
- ceramic glazing
- painting
- mixed media
- recycled art
- human movement (dance, play, theatre)
- music (make instruments and form a band!)

Option 1 – Group bookings via public workshops
Check out our upcoming workshops and we can arrange one of the following:
A. Book your group into an upcoming published workshop; or
B. Repeat the same workshop for your group on a time/day that suits you; or
C. Vary the workshop to meet your needs (e.g. shorter/longer, fewer/more people).
Please note that any workshops requiring the pottery wheel is limited to seven people maximum.

Discounts can be provided for groups over eight people, however, a surcharge may apply for groups under eight people if you require exclusive access (e.g. no other members of the public in the workshop).
Option 2 – Customised group workshops
We can customise workshops for your group as follows:
- weekdays, weekends or evenings
- from 2 to 100 people
- two hours to multi-day events
- catering
- select one or multiple creative mediums
- special guest artist talks and demonstrations
In addition, you can use our workshop spaces before or after your creative workshop for meetings, celebrations, lunch or dinner.
Pricing depends very much on the level and depth of customisation. As a guide, for two hour workshops with a minimum of eight people, painting workshops start from $30 per person per hour, and ceramic workshops start from $35 per person per hour. Discounts can then be applied for workshops over two hours and groups of 12 or more.
