Play Day at the Quarry Arts Centre

Saturday 25 October 2025 11am-1pm

Location: Scallop Room, The Quarry Arts Centre, 21 Selwyn Avenue, Whangārei 0110

A welcoming, hands-on clay experience celebrating the physical joy of making with clay. This drop-in activity invites tamariki and their whānau to explore simple hand-building techniques—wedging, pinching, rolling, shaping.

Focus:

Clay work strengthens fine motor skills, builds hand and arm strength, and fosters body awareness. Clay making is a physical art form where the body acquires new skills and finds harmony with creative intention. This activity promotes hauora by spotlighting the physical dimension of wellbeing through tactile, embodied play.

For all ages, Ages under 5 should only participate with parent, caregiver or older whānau member.

Clay and tools provided. No experience needed. Just drop in, get your hands dirty.

Free entry. (This is a drop-in activity. Availability of spaces will depend on room capacity and the rotation of participants.)

(Kiln firing of works made will cost. Prices are the Quarry community electric kiln rates).
$6 per quarter shelf size: 300mm (w) × 230mm (d) × 150mm (h) . Further community electric kiln information please click here
