Join us for a fun and hands-on six-week introduction to pottery wheel throwing. This course is perfect for beginners or anyone looking to build confidence with the basics of wheel work alongside our talented tutors. You'll learn essential techniques while creating your own beautiful ceramic pieces from start to finish.

Week 1 - Preparing the clay, centering and throwing simple cylinders.

Week 2 - Trimming and understanding basic techniques.

Week 3 - Exploring basic shapes, bowls and bellies

Week 4 - Refining Trimming and exploring textures 

Week 5. Decorating and glazing 

Week 6. Throwing larger and the unveiling of finished work.

Expect to get a little messy, so please bring suitable clothing, an apron if you have one, and an old towel. 

All materials & tools will be provided, and no prior experience is necessary.  The course includes a 10KG bag of stoneware clay and 2x firings equal to a kiln quarter shelf*. Firing volumes above standard Quarry workshop limits may incur additional charges at the usual public kiln firing rates.  *Quarter shelf size: 300mm (w) × 230mm (d) × 150mm (h)
