Maximum attendees: 8
Ages: 16+

Location: Art Shed, Quarry Arts Centre, 21 Selwyn Avenue, Whangarei 0110
This workshop explores the sketchbook as a simple creative anchor: a place to return to in the small, in-between moments of everyday life. While musicians practice scales and dancers train regularly, visual artists often lack an equivalent daily practice. Through guided drawing and simple collage exercises, participants will experiment with playful mark-making and discover ways to build a sustainable sketchbook habit. Suitable for beginners and experienced artists alike, the focus is on curiosity, experimentation and finding joy in a small, repeatable creative practice.
This workshop is in connection to the exhibition ‘Touchstones’, in the Yvonne Rust Gallery between Friday 15th – Saturday 30th May 2026.
Linette is a local potter and practising artist with a Diploma in Ceramic Design and a Master of Creative and Performing Arts Management. She loves sketchbooks and journaling, and is interested in how small, everyday creative habits help sustain an artistic life.
